Some market watchers have recently expressed their concern that ultra-thin notebooks may share the same fate as netbooks since players ranging from first-tier vendors to white-box makers and even non-notebook players have all joined the market to compete for a share.
With such a gold-rush, vendors are concerned that ultra-thin notebooks may see demand dry up quickly as happened to netbooks, the sources noted.
In addition to first-tier PC vendors such as Acer, Lenovo and Asustek Computer, ……White-box vendors ……..have recently launched entry-level models in China and plan to launch more entry-level and mid-range models in 2010.
China-based white-box PC maker ……….  such as CZC Technology,……  are all planning to cut into ultra-thin notebooks shortly.
With the past experience in netbooks, white-box players will be more comfortable the ultra-thin notebook market and their models are expected to be about US$200 cheaper than the market's expected ASP of around US$800.
